To the Single Parent Who’s Doing This Alone
Single parenting can ask a lot of you.
You’re keeping up with school schedules, meals, appointments, work, bills, emotions, and all the little things that somehow still need to happen every day. Some days feel manageable. Other days, getting everyone where they need to be and making it to bedtime feels like an accomplishment all by itself.
And in the middle of all of that, it can be easy to wonder whether you’re doing enough
Maybe you’re carrying more than most people realize, or maybe you’ve simply gotten used to being the one who keeps everything moving. Either way, you don’t have to have all the answers or do everything perfectly to be a good parent.
However You Got Here
Every single-parent story is different. Maybe your family changed through divorce or loss. Maybe you’ve always been the primary parent. Maybe your story took a turn you never expected. Whatever brought you here, you don’t have to explain or defend it.
What matters is where you are now, loving your kids, making decisions, carrying responsibility, and doing your best to give your family what they need. There may be days when that feels heavy, and there may also be days filled with laughter, joy, and moments you wouldn’t trade for anything. Both can be true.
You Don’t Have to Be Everything
One of the easiest pressures to carry as a single parent is the feeling that you have to make up for everything your kids might be missing. But your kids don’t need a perfect parent. They need someone who loves them, keeps showing up, listens, apologizes when necessary, celebrates with them, and keeps pointing them toward what matters.
On the days when you feel stretched thin, God is not measuring your worth by how much you managed to accomplish. Psalm 68:5 describes Him as “a father to the fatherless, a defender of widows.” Throughout Scripture, we see a God who pays attention to families carrying difficult circumstances and draws close to people who need His care.
You are not invisible to Him.
You Were Never Meant to Do Life Alone
You may be parenting on your own, but that doesn’t mean you have to do every part of life by yourself. Community matters, especially when life is full.
At Love Church, Love Kidz is a place where kids from birth through 5th grade can have fun, make friends, and meet Jesus. On Sundays, your kids have their own space, teachers who care about them, and an environment designed specifically for them. While they’re there, you have space to worship, hear God’s Word, and simply be present in the Encounter.
Groups are another way to build relationships beyond Sunday. Whether it’s a Mixed Group, Men’s Group, Women’s Group, REV Group for students, or a Care Group for a specific season, Groups give you a place to know people and be known. You don’t have to wait until life is falling apart to need community. Sometimes it’s simply helpful to have people who pray with you, encourage you, celebrate the good moments, and walk with you through the harder ones.
There’s Room for Your Family Here
We know one Sunday doesn’t solve everything. Church doesn’t make schedules less busy, bills disappear, or every parenting decision easier. But it can become a place where you and your kids have people around you.
It can be a place where your kids are cared for and encouraged, where you can keep growing in your faith, and where you can meet people who understand that life can be complicated and still believe God is present in the middle of it.
You don’t have to have everything figured out before you walk through the doors. Come as you are, bring your kids, and take a Sunday to worship, breathe, and be reminded that you don’t have to do life alone.
You belong here.
